Beskrivning In this course, we will review how eye gaze can be a foundational skill for a child with significant motor challenges to engage and participate in all parts of their home and school activities. We will explore computer access, why it matters, and how to develop skills for success. We’ll look at Tobii Dynavox software solutions such as TD Snap’s Boardmaker activities, Sensory Eye FX 2, Communicator 5 Accessible Apps, TD Browse, and custom modes in TD Control software. All these tools can support anyone beginning their eye gaze journey. Learning Objectives: 1. Describe eye gaze access method and its importance for children with complex motor challenges. 2. List two Tobii Dynavox software solutions that scaffold success for children who use eye gaze. 3. Caroline Gaddy, MFA, MA, CCC-SLP (they/she) is Learning Consultant for Tobii Dynavox. In addition, they are a speech-language pathologist, AAC specialist, disability advocate, and neurodiversity educator. Caroline worked for many years in school settings as a teacher and an SLP. They also worked in medical settings with adult and pediatric populations, and specialized in supporting communication access for people with multiple disabilities. Caroline is passionate about disability justice and inclusion, and firmly believes that communication is a fundamental human right.
