How can I stop the volume changing on my I-Series on it's own?

maj 13, 2022

On some I-13 and I-16 devices, the volume may change on its own.  As one uses the device the volume slider will appear in the upper left corner of the screen and move up or down randomly while eye tracking stops working.  If this occurs, please try the following possible solutions.  There are typically many different culprits that may cause this issue so you may need to try more than one of the solutions below.  If none of these work, please contact technical support.

  • Sound Effects or Immediate Mode are causing this - Realtek audio drivers do include a few features that might cause this particular behavior.  Follow these steps to disable sound effects and Immediate Mode.
    1. Open Window's Settings
    2. Select System
    3. Choose Sound
    4. On the far right, choose Sound Control Panel
    5. Select Speakers - Realtek High Definition Audio - Default Device
    6. Choose Properties
    7. Select the Enhancementstab
    8. Check Disable all sound effects
    9. Uncheck Immediate mode
    10. Select OK
  • Issue is being caused by Windows Communications feature
    1. Open Windows Settings
    2. Select System
    3. Choose Sound
    4. On the far right, choose Sound Control Panel
    5. Choose the Communicationstab
    6. Select Do nothing
    7. Choose OK
  • Other Applications may take control of the volume
    1. Open Windows Settings
    2. Select System
    3. Choose Sound
    4. On the far right, choose Sound Control Panel
    5. Select Speakers - Realtek High Definition Audio - Default Device
    6. Choose Properties
    7. Select the Advancedtab
    8. Deselect Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device
    9. Deselect Give exclusive mode application priority
    10. Select OK
  • Make sure neither of the adaptive buttons are set to increase or decrease the volume in your communication software just in case they are accidentally picking up a glare.
  • In Hardware Settings, select Adaptive Buttons and turn off Enable Volume Buttons just in case one or both of your buttons are stuck.
  • Finally, if none of these solutions work, please contact technical support.

* Please note, there is a USB issue that results in volume changing on its own.  This issue can affect Windows, Apple, and Android devices.  While this issue is unlikely to be the cause of your complication it is a possibility.
